Washington Society of Landscape Painters

This spherical panorama was taken in the main gallery at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD. The exhibit was entitled “Timeless Traditions, Today’s Landscapes: An Exhibition by the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.” The entire collection can be viewed here.

This is the flattened cube version of the panorama.

Carroll Creek Park Cube

This cube, shot at Carroll Creek Park in Frederick, Maryland, will be shown at the Art League of Germantown‘s WinterGlow 2014 show at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown, Maryland, November 5 – 9, 2014. The Artist Reception will be held on Sunday, November 9th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. While the material for this cube is a couple years old, I recently re-processed the shots in a high dynamic range, high chroma fashion, and I like the results.

Arts Barn Exhibit Opens Friday

See the Gaithersburg Arts Barn announcement here. I am showing two spherical panoramas, one taken at the Tidal Basin and one taken inside the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, that are then mapped onto cubes. Both of these panoramas were taken on the same morning. After taking the Tidal Basin one, I saw all these photographers lined up to catch the sun rising over the Jefferson Memorial. Having little interest in catching what everyone else was getting, I walked over to the memorial. There was a photographer shooting with a crew and a model near the memorial, but nobody but a few stragglers in the memorial itself. I was able to capture a full panorama without any interference from others, while the sun was coming up.
